Judith Dawley was born in New York City and raised in the lakes area of New Jersey. She moved to Alpena in 1982 with her family. Her Watercolors record the unique character of Alpena’s landmarks. They are narrative in nature, depicting life in a coastal town.
Dawley has demonstrated watercolor techniques on Artrain and conducted workshops for teachers. Her work has appeared in the Michigan Water Color Society Exhibition, its traveling exhibit, and the Great Lakes Juried Exhibition. She has won awards in the Northeast Michigan Artists Juried Exhibition. She is the author of A Year in Alpena and Alpena Once More.
